The comparision with the Japanese Zero is very interesting. I heard a story about a zero that was lost in the islands off Alaska. The plane was soon found by the US and it was in such good shape that it was repaired and flown. It was noticed that the design had one flaw, some type of a turn after a dive or somthing like that. This one bit if information turned out to be extremely important to and saved many pilots lives.
