I talked to some of the H-1 restoration team at Silver Hill and they told me that their first choice was to display the airplane with the short wings, as that was thought to be the more historically significant version. They have the original short wings at Sliver Hill, but they found out that the difference between the short and long winged versions was more than just the outer wings and that a compelte rebuild of airplane would have been required. I think that building a duplicate of the short winged version would have been nice so that we would have one of each, but I suppose it was more practical to build the long winged version in any case.
