We have searched for the proverbial "smoking gun" unsuccessfully. When we started the project, we were convinced that there was no connection. As we progressed, we became convinced that a connection did exist between Hughes and Mitsubishi. Although the Racer was a prototype and was optimised for performance, not manufacturability, many design aspects of the Zero appear uncannily similar. The timing of the Racer's L.A. to N.Y. record and the start of the specs. for the Zero seem to fit!
