Many thanks for the reply. I have been looking at the Hughes racer as a possible 1/4 scale radio control model project. I have the Paul Matt scale drawings, which show both the long and the short wing versions. I guess the long wing version would make a more forgiving model. At 1/4 scale the span would be near 100". I will have to draw up my own plans from the Paul Matt 1/48 scale drawings which do show the fuselage profiles and root and tip ribs so I should be able to get a reasonably accurate representation.
I look forward to more news on your fascinating project, the photographs are great. I would love to see it in the air when you complete it, not much chance of that here in the UK though, looks like I’ll have to organise a trip to the states sometime. I believe that there is also a replica of the Laird-Turner LTR14 being constructed over there. How about the Laird DW300 Super Solution biplane as your next project?
Regards Alan
